Norse Atlantic to start Gatwick-Cape Town service in October
Norse Atlantic Airways has unveiled a route connecting Gatwick and Cape Town, with the service starting on October 28. Flights will operate three times
a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Return fares start at £499 in economy and £1,199 in Norse Premium class. Currently, British Airways and
Virgin Atlantic serve the South African city from London. Bjorn Tore Larsen, chief
executive and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, said: “By breaking the duopoly on this route, we are not only expanding travel options for consumers but also driving down costs and putting the customer back in the pilot’s seat.”

Fred Holidays unveils no-fly tours using rail, sail and road

Fred Holidays has launched three “unique” no-fly tours combining rail, sail and self-drive options. They range from a five-night tour in France to a
65-night “epic” circumnavigation of North America. The no-fly holidays were unveiled on Earth Day last
month to highlight sustainable travel options. The Dordogne: Rocamadour by Rail & Drive
tour offers clients the chance to travel by train from London to France. Clients will collect a hire car at Brive-la-Gaillarde station near Rocamadour, where ancient buildings cling to the cliff edge. The operator offers daily departures year-round,
with prices from £899 departing on October 29. The 65-night no-fly holiday takes clients across
Canada and the US by rail and sea. After crossing the Atlantic on Cunard flagship,
Southampton gains twice-weekly summer flights to Caen in Normandy
Southampton airport’s first service to Caen in Normandy will take off in June for a summer season. Normandy-based airline Chalair will operate the seasonal route with flights twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays. The services will be operated by a 70-seat ATR 72 turboprop aircraft from June 28 to September 22. The flights take 40-45 minutes.
