SAFE DRIVER PROGRAMS

With accident rates dramatically increasing, it’s more important than ever to take action against distracted driving. We partnered with the city of Boston and Cambridge Mobile Telematics for the Boston Safest Driver Competition. In order to compete, more than 4,000 drivers in Greater Boston downloaded a smartphone app that gave them feedback on their driving. The results were impressive: participants’ phone use while driving decreased by 47 percent, and speeding dropped by 35 percent.

“Having the support of school administration and local officials made Distractology worthwhile for every student who went through the simulation. There is no doubt in my mind that we had a positive impact on safe driving in the communities we represent.”

We’ve been a sponsor of the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon for nine years, but 2016 became particularly special to us as we teamed up with patient partner Jodi Killeffer. Jodi is a cancer survivor and patient of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute who shared her story during the telethon. We also welcomed her to speak at the Arbella Insurance Group’s annual Pink Day fundraiser, which raised $47,274 for cancer research.

“I felt like I was part of the Arbella Insurance Group’s family from day one. The Pink Day event gave me the platform to tell my story and empowered me to use my diagnosis to help others. I’m so happy to be partnered with an amazing organization that truly cares.”

Melanoma is one of the most preventable types of cancer, yet it is increasing at a faster rate than most. To help fight this trend, we partnered with the Melanoma Foundation for the Practice Safe Skin initiative. In the summer, we placed sunscreen dispensers in parks, playgrounds, and beaches all across Massachusetts to spread awareness of the importance of protecting your skin.

Our Distractology trailer continued to tour high schools throughout New England. We’ve now hosted at 150 locations, and we’re committed to spreading the importance of preventing distracted driving. Our Live Nation Road Crew program is also popular, offering free fountain drinks to designated drivers at the Xfinity Center and Blue Hills Bank Pavilion.
