HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS

The Foundation has a long history of supporting nonprofits that fight hunger and homelessness, and that trend continued in 2016. We organized workday volunteer opportunities for Arbella Insurance employees at local charities such as Father Bill’s & Mainspring, Interfaith Social Services, and South Shore Habitat for Humanity. And we partnered with the MA Affordable Housing Alliance to increase affordable and sustainable homeownership across Massachusetts.

“With Arbella’s Foundation and its leadership, advocacy, volunteerism, and capital investments, Habitat for Humanity homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better future for themselves and their families.”

- Evelyn Nelson Vice President of Development South Shore Habitat for Humanity

VETERANS

We are extremely proud of our partnership with the New England Center and Home for Veterans, located in downtown Boston. The NECHV does important work to give educational, clinical, employment, and housing support to veterans who are at risk of homelessness, including a brand-new, state-of-the-art women’s facility. Last year, we were also thrilled to be the official corporate sponsor for their annual Leave No One Behind Gala.

We also sponsor Boston Harbor Now’s annual Veterans Harbor Cruise to honor our veterans and active military members. The cruise highlights the fascinating military history of the Boston Harbor Islands and includes tours of Fort Warren, Junior Ranger activities, and a commemorative wreath laying. And Arbella Insurance employees love participating in the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund to plant flags at Boston Common on Memorial Day weekend.

“This great imagined center and resource for veterans that is emerging here in Boston perhaps would not have been possible without the vision, generosity, and confidence of the Arbella Insurance Foundation.”

- C. Andrew McCawley
