The Goernments watchdog the ational udit Offi ce has gien its masters a nip on the bum this week regarding its sustainability goals. The O has told them in no uncertain terms that heat pump installations are way behind what are needed if they are to hae een a slim chance of hitting their  annual installation goal by .


The Goernments Boiler pgrade Scheme has been in ated by  from its original  grant howeer clearly this retrofi t-oriented incentie hasnt yet produced the num- bers needed among eisting homeowners.  cost of liing crisis might hae something to do with that theres a danger that most of the early adopters might hae already adopted heat pumps!


Self-builders are in the anguard of proiding heat pumps to new builds howeer partly boosted by the fact the BS scheme is aailable for self-builds as opposed to most new commercial new build homes. There are a couple of slightly woolly caeats. To get the  towards your installation the home needs to hae been mainly built using the labour or resources of the fi rst owner and to have “never been owned by a business or organisation.


The second might be clear enough but d suggest the fi rst is in the eye of the beholder
