Trio of trade c.e.o.s look to tackle industry gender imbalance

16.30 THE BA A.G.M. Today, 11.30 a.m. ? Olympia Room, Olympia Grand Hall 14 12th March 2019

Tis is arguably the premier event of London Book Fair’s entire 2019 seminar programme, with a heavy-hiting panel of female publishing bosses and entrepreneurs talking about how the industry can help promote more women into leadership roles. Organiser Inspired Selection promises a panel that tackles both the larger issues at play in the trade and the practical, nity-grity steps needed to develop staff. The speakers include three of the most influential and powerful women in the British trade—Bonnier Books c.e.o. Perminder Mann, Hodder Education group m.d. Lis Tribe, and DK m.d., publishing Rebecca Smart—and provide a nice balance across the publishing sectors. There will be no shortage of meat topics to chew on, such as the relatively low number of women who are heads of British houses (particularly worrying given the female-to-male ratio of the industry) and the oſten stark gender pay gap numbers in some of the larger firms, which came to light in figures released last year.
