F THE NUMBER one bestseller of a territory’s book chart said anything about the country itself,
we’d have to surmise that Australia is obsessed with money, New Zealand is obsessed with food, and South Africa is obsessed with... political corrup- tion. (Wonder if the US chart will start to look the same in a year or two?) In Australia, finance expert Scot Pape topped the chart covering the 52 weeks to 17th March 2018, with The Barefoot Investor selling a tidy 491,846 copies. Pape, who edged out J K Rowl- ing as Australia’s biggest-earning author for the same timeframe, will presumably invest his share of the $11.8m he brought in last year for John Wiley wisely.
