My FBF Hattie Grünewald

As told to Caroline Carpenter As

My first visit to the Frankfurt Book Fair was very last-minute, as I got pulled in to take a colleague’s meetings when they were unable to go. It was a trial by fire and mostly I remember feeling a mix of exhaustion and adrenaline.

I really miss the parties and all the industry intel you casually pick up at the fair. It’s been easy to feel out of the loop during the pandemic. I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone as things return to normal.

It’s great to see all the international editors you only see once or twice a year at Frankfurt, but I also just love running into UK editors in a different context—it feels a bit like a school trip.

The Blair Partnership will be taking virtual meetings during this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, but it’s such a busy selling period for us that I don’t have time for much else.

I’m most excited about sharing Sarah Stovell’s Other Parents with international publishers. It’s the UK’s answer to Liane Moriart—funny and completely unputdownable. It follows the lives and rivalries of mums at a rural village primary school; they all have opinions, and they all have secrets too.

The best FBF party I’ve been to is p book.

night Canongate party,y but any part with music and dancing is good in my book.

My favourite place in Fr

e been to is probably the Friday t with music and

wherever everyone else is going for a drink once the fair is finished. It’s all about the people for me.

Frankfurt for a drink tends to be lse i

the people for me. My top tip for surviving Fr ng Frankfurt is... ...

pacing yourself. And making sure you have at least one part-free evening t tuck up in your hotel room with some room ser and a good (non-work-related) book.
