The Bestseller Charts Analysis
dropped to its lowest volume and value for the year to date last week, at 2.85 million books sold for £26.3m, Adult Fiction was the sole category to increase in value year on year, by 3.8%—though it did decline in volume, by 5.9%. However, it was doing beter than Trade Non-Fiction,
which declined 11.6% in volume and 2.6% in value year on year, and it trumped Children’s, which plummeted 17.7% in volume and 15.5% in value. While Children’s is being measured against a particularly verdant period of 2022, when Alice Oseman’s entire Heartstopper series rocketed into the chart following its Netflix adaptation dropping, kids’ books seemed to be strug- gling harder than the
