Jacaranda began with a distinctive purpose: to shine a light on brilliant writers and their stories which remained unpublished. Over the course of ten years, we’ve brought those authors to the forefront, presenting audiences with exquisite books, ground-breaking voices and new collections that continue to inspire and excite readers.
As a Black-owned independent publisher and bookseller, we’re incredibly proud of the 100+ titles we’ve published over the last decade. We’re also proud to be run from top to bottom by talented women (and men) of colour, driving the change so sorely needed in our industry.

Meet the first ever non-fiction book series dedicated to Black British culture. Curated by the award-winning publisher and Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient Magdalene Abraha, each of the 8 titles has been written by a leading young Black British voice and debut author.
Twenty in 2020
We made history as the first UK publisher to publish twenty titles by 20 Black British writers in one year. Covering fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, Twenty in 2020 aims to amplify and project the voices of Black Britons.
Prizewinners
With over one third of our list featured on pre-eminent awards, from the Society of Authors, to the Republic of Consciousness prize, and the James Tait Black award to the Man Booker International, we have emphatically proven that Black writing globally and at home is excellent, and commercially viable.
