‘‘‘‘ I

s this real life? Is this just fantasy?” The late great, Freddie Mercury’s opener on “Bohemian Rhapsody” has been applicable to the charts of late, as a huge injection has come from the subscription box boom which has supercharged Science Fiction & Fantasy, particularly for new or early career authors in the roman- tasy and New Adult realm. It worked again last week with Georgia Summers’ first novel The Cit of Stardust bagging the number one spot at launch, becoming the second fantasy novel in as many weeks to nab the Official UK Top 50 pole position on the back of a subscription box promotion.

Summers, a former editor at Pan Macmillan’s SFF imprint Tor, shiſted just over 11,000 units
