Kagoshima International Aviation, a sub- sidiary of Iwasaki Corporation, is an aircraft operating company located at Kagoshi- ma Airport. Established in 1972, it provides a variety of operational services, such as Doctor-Heli support for Kagoshima Prefec- ture, disaster relief support for Kagoshima and Miyazaki Prefectures, electronic news gathering for local broadcasting companies, and pilot and technician training for govern- ment agencies. Its capabilities also include aircraft maintenance, repair, and modifi cation services.
Kagoshima International Aviation Orders a GrandNew EMS Helicopter for New Southern Hokkaido Base in Japan
AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica com-
pany, and Kaigai Corporation of Japan are pleased to announce that Kagoshima Inter- national Aviation has placed an order for a GrandNew light twin helicopter to perform emergency medical service missions for Hakodate City Hospital in Southern Hokkai- do. The aircraft is expected to enter service in early 2015 and will be based at Hakodate Airport. Kagoshima International Aviation already has a GrandNew EMS confi guration in service in the Kagoshima Prefecture.
This latest purchase is part of the
Doctor-Heli system program intended to provide modern airborne EMS coverage to all prefectures in Japan. The order further expands the presence of EMS-confi gured GrandNew helicopters in the Japanese mar- ket and continues the growing success of the GrandNew and AgustaWestland’s other light twin helicopters in Japan for a range of roles including EMS, law enforcement, VIP/corpo- rate transport and electronic newsgathering.
The GrandNew was chosen by the cli- ent after a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process to ensure it could meet demanding mission and safety requirements. Kagoshima International Aviation’s Grand- New features a comprehensive EMS layout with a cabin confi guration able to accommo- date one litter plus four medical attendants or two litters plus medical attendants. The air- craft is also fi tted with skis and ice detection.
The GrandNew features the most
modern developments in avionics, while re- taining the Grand’s outstanding performance and features. The GrandNew is the fi rst type certifi ed light twin (CS/JAR/FAR 27) to enter service with a new EFIS featuring Synthet- ic Vision, and the fi rst helicopter in its class that fully complies with the latest advanced global positioning system-based navigation requirements for all weather operations. The GrandNew off ers operators unprecedented abilities to exploit the advantages of rotor- craft. Orders for more than 330 helicopters from the Grand series have been placed by nearly 210 customers in almost 40 countries worldwide to perform many tasks including EMS, SAR, electronic newsgathering, VIP/ corporate transport, passenger transport, harbour pilot shuttle, maritime patrol, and water pollution monitoring.
Spectrum Aeromed Wins Small Business of the Year Award at ChamberChoice Awards
The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce of North Dakota and Minnesota recently named Spectrum Aeromed, an aeromedical interior manu- facturer, Small Business of the Year at the ChamberChoice Awards.
The event honors important contributions
made by businesses, nonprofi t organizations and entrepreneurs in the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo metropolitan area. Finalists and winners were selected by a panel of inde- pendent judges from the regional business community who evaluated accomplishments in the areas of business growth, innova- tion, creativity, community involvement, and unique achievements relating to a specifi c business or industry.
Chief Operating Offi cer Chad Kost accepted the award on behalf of Spectrum and shared his enthusiasm, “This award is especially meaningful to us because we were selected by a local panel of judges in the business community. It’s just as import- ant to us to be active and recognized locally as it is nationally.”
