1. Seat Height The seat height should be adjustable to ensure that the user if appropriate and with their knees at a 90 degree angle and slightly higher than their hips. This position reduces the amount of pressure on the lower limbs, helps to maintain the pelvis in an upright position and prevents curvature of the lower spine. All of our task, operator and executive chairs are height adjustable and most feature gas lift adjustment to easily allow the user to modify their height in relation to the height of their workstation.
2.
Seat Depth The depth of the seat should allow for a small clearance between the front edge of the seat and the back of your knees in order to prevent pressure on the network of blood vessels and nerves in the back of the calves. The user should be sat maintaining contact with the chairs backrest and some of our mechanism that will facilitate this for people with longer length legs.
3.
Backrest
The backrest should be set at the right height to provide support to the lower back and follow the natural curve of the spine. YPO offer a number of chairs featuring backrests with additional lumbar support or mesh backs which offers increased ventilation.
4.
Armrests
Armrests can support arms so that the shoulders rest at a comfortable position when working. The user’s arms should be at a relaxed 90 degree angle when in contact with the armrests to help them avoid adopting a hunched sitting position. Some of our chairs feature height adjustable arms which enable the chair arms to be adjusted independently from the seat resulting in the effective support of the arms and shoulders.
