Amaya Care Homes acquires Newport home
Amaya Care Homes has acquired Capel Grange Care Home in Newport, South Wales. Previously owned by Linc Cymru Housing Association, which merged with Pobl Group in April 2024, the 72-bed Capel Grange was brought to market as part of a strategic divestment of Linc’s care portfolio. Following a confidential sales process with Rob Kinsman at Christie & Co, Capel Grange has been sold to Amaya Care Homes as part of Amaya’s strategic initiative to broaden its care services across the region. Amaya Care Homes CEO Rajan Gupta said:
“The acquisition of Capel Grange represents a pivotal moment in our expansion strategy in South Wales. Capel Grange shares our deep commitment to high-quality, relationship- centred care. We are excited to welcome their skilled team into our family. Together, we will continue to provide exceptional care and support to our residents and their families, building on the strong community ties established by Capel Grange.” Gary Hortop, director of care and support at Linc, commented: “Since developing Capel Grange, we have taken great pride in our role within the Newport community, providing crucial services and creating a nurturing environment for our residents. We are confident that Amaya Care Homes will continue this legacy of care and look forward to seeing the home flourish under their stewardship.” Rob Kinsman, regional director – care at Christie & Co, added: “It has been a privilege to facilitate this sale to Amaya Care Homes, an organisation known for its robust operational capabilities and heartfelt approach to care. We are certain that under Amaya’s management, Capel Grange will achieve new heights in service excellence.”

it was – far more so than I imagined! I came away with an excited buzz about Martello Manor, for what it will offer residents, for the aspirations to develop strong links with the wider community, and the quality jobs at all levels for local people that are much needed and very welcome. I do think that a brand- new, purpose-built, and family-run care home will be a great addition to complement Hythe’s excellent, established care services. Oxford care home unveils new champagne bar
Cumnor Hill House in Oxford has celebrated the opening of its new champagne bar. The home – part of the Berkley Care
Group – worked with designers from Gill Jackson Healthcare Consultants to create a space that combines practicality with a high-quality finish. The design takes advantage of the home’s panoramic windows which makes the views of the home’s grounds a key feature. The three-month renovation required careful planning to ensure minimal disruption. Builders worked in phases to maintain access to the main entrance, allowing residents, visitors, and essential services to move freely. Measures were also taken to reduce noise and dust while ensuring the home remained fully operational.
The new champagne bar includes a
two-way fireplace, bespoke lighting, and multiple functional zones including a bar, snug, visitors’ area, and bistro. Each element was designed to serve the varied needs of residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining a luxurious feel. Sherrie Hume, general manager of Cumnor Hill House, said. “The champagne bar has been designed with a clear focus on usability and luxury. It’s a space that residents, their families, and our team can all enjoy. This new space has quickly become a central hub for residents as it offers a comfortable environment for socialising and relaxation.” Berkley Care Group CEO Laura Perry said: “The bar was designed to be both stylish and versatile, making it a valuable addition to Cumnor’s facilities. We wanted this renovation to reflect Berkley’s commitment to helping residents live well, while striking the right balance between functionality and aesthetics.”
