Goedstrup Hospital

Goedstrup Hospital is a new ‘super hospital’ located north of Herning, one of the largest new healthcare buildings in Denmark, ‘setting the standard for future Danish hospital construction’. The acute hospital includes an Emergency Department, medical imaging, and ‘a family cluster’, with maternity wards, delivery wards, and paediatric and neonatal departments. There are 214 single rooms, 26 operating theatres, and 89 outpatient clinics, as well as facilities such as laboratories, central sterile services, administration space, a cafeteria, and staff facilities. The design focused on healing architecture, with key elements including daylight, contact with the landscape, and building-integrated art. The higher-level patient rooms have beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, and each floor has access to balconies, courtyard areas, or the landscape.
