Also new this year – and developed to complement Teal LifeCare’s existing Portobello ‘security dining tables’ – are the Porcini ‘café-sized security tables’ for multi- environment use. Available with a choice of top options, including KYDEX, Armouren, and compact laminate, these are again designed for challenging environments. The tables have a fully sealed moulded polyethylene base, a weighted, tip-resistant design, come as standard with a 25 mm bullnosed laminate top with Medicote anti- bacterial lacquer, and were developed ‘to be difficult to grasp, manoeuvre, manipulate, or pick up’. They have a wipe- clean top, soft radiused corners, and come in X Specification as standard.
Alongside chairs and tables in a wide range of styles, Teal LifeCare manufactures a range of other furniture for mental healthcare use, including beds and mattresses, bedroom furniture, secure wall- fixed TV cabinets, and other lounge and storage furniture. Also new is the Surrey Bed. Designed ‘to provide enhanced safety and security’, its ‘unique design features’ reportedly ensure that infection control standards are maintained, and ‘further reduce manual handling issues’. Available in both a free-standing version, for central bedroom placement, or in left /right- handed configuration for fitting to a wall, the Surrey has a durable MDF vinyl- wrapped soft edge top, and a channelled platform, to facilitate cleaning and allow air to circulate under the mattress. Its sloping sides enable staff to work closer to the bed, and make it easier for service-users to get out of it, while waterfall edging around the platform and base are designed to prevent fluid ingress and improve cleanability.
