A NEW ‘SUITE’ OF PRODUCTS Lee McCarthy explained that Designplan will be focusing on developing its presence in the mental healthcare sector with products ‘specifically designed to support the progressive approach to recovery’. Alan Carter added: “We are also in the process of developing a new ‘suite’ of lighting products for secure and broader mental healthcare applications. We did a little research on the perceptions of specific products we are looking at developing at May’s Design in Mental Health 2018 exhibition, and are now busy working on some designs.

IN-HOUSE MANUFACTURE Alan Carter explained that the external design of the two versions is ‘exactly the same’, adding: “The strength and robustness are due to the combination of the die-cast aluminium body and polycarbonate diffuser. We manufacture the housing and assembly, and within our group also produce LED boards. The binning of the LEDs, and the quality of those we use, are key. Like all our LED lighting products, the Basilica and Basilica Tuneable White come with a full five-year warranty

removable gear tray. This means that when the LEDs reach their end of life, you simply remove a few screws, and replace the old LED gear trays with the latest technology.
