A unified approach to digital pathology Conventional whole-slide imaging
generally involves capturing a single focal plane, which may suit thin, uniform sections, but can limit clarity with varying tissue thickness or 3D structures. Volumetric imaging enables effective digital scanning for both cytology and histology, with 14 focal planes captured in a single pass, and merged into a high clarity composite image.1,2
