P RODUCT S Swabs supplied for COVID-19 testing

In order to meet the required capacity of 200,000+ COVID-19 tests per day, the Government guidelines on transport swabs has made allowances for Laboratories to use alternatives to Viral Transport Medium (VTM), subject to local validation. The broad range of swabs available

from ALPHA LABORATORIES is helping to support this demand. The swabs are ideal for collecting and transporting virological, bacteriological, serological and cytological samples.

Swabs that are CE marked for IVD, conform to the MDD 93/42/EEC for Class IIa. They are available in various packaging formats, from bulk packs that are ideal for diagnostic kit assembly, to single swab peel-packs that are perfect for POC testing. They are manufactured in ISO class 8 or

higher clean room conditions, under an ISO 13485 accredited quality system. They are certified free of PCR inhibitors, human DNA, RNase, DNase and pyrogens. Where swabs are marked as sterile this is by irradiation or EtO.

Syringe infusion system designed

for patient safety BAXTER has announced CE marking for the Evo IQ Syringe Infusion System. The company expects hospitals in the UK to be among the first to receive the new system, with additional countries to follow in a series of planned regulatory submissions. The Evo IQ Syringe Infusion System can be used to deliver small volumes of medications and other fluids to patients in a controlled manner. The device joins the Evo IQ large volumetric pump (LVP) as part of the Evo IQ Infusion Platform, a suite of smart pumps that helps enable clinicians to utilise the technology that helps meet a patient’s specific needs. With patient safety and clinician efficiency central to its design, the Syringe Infusion System is supported by Baxter’s web-based Dose IQ Safety Software and wireless IQ Enterprise Connectivity Suite to help reduce potentially harmful infusion programming errors.

Monitoring solution for endoscopy management

The Canexis Endoscopy Solution, from CANTEL, allows hospitals to monitor every step of the patient’s experience to support quality patient care. The traceability, ownership and accountability that the soft- ware delivers helps support safety and infec- tion prevention. The solution was developed in close collaboration with endoscopy experts to create a high quality user-friendly tool that enables best practice. Hospitals can deter- mine the real-time status and location of the entire endoscope inventory at a glance with the endoscope monitoring dashboard. It also enables transparency on which endoscopes are ready for use, which endoscopes need to be reprocessed, which endoscopes are out for repair and to see trends over time to help make repair vs. replace decisions.
