company’s standard ZEOflair types 1, 2, 3. Hajdu said the ZEOflair 6000 additives are in the phase three market introduction stage in certain geographic areas. The customers cannot be named for confidentiality reasons, but they include recyclers (with compounding equipment), master- batch manufacturers, specialty compounders, converters and label owners, he said. Struktol Company of America has introduced new additives which perform in a number of roles but particularly the reduction of odours in polymer compounds. It says RP 17 and RP 53 additives are designed to support the increasing demand for high recycled content and compliance with strin- gent quality standards. These proprietary blends are effective in compounding, extrusion, and moulding of polypropylene and polyethylene and are compatible with PCR and PIR streams. RP 17 is a white pastille with a


105–120° C dropping point and a specific gravity of 0.94, offering consistent melt behaviour and seamless integration into processing lines, said Struktol. RP 53 is an off-white pastille with a 100–130° C dropping point and a specific gravity of 1.07, which can be used in diverse temperature conditions.


Mask and neutraliser


RP 17 functions primarily as an odour mask to improve the final product’s scent, while RP 53 acts as a powerful odour neutraliser that offers clean, effective results, said Struktol. Both products have demonstrated reliability in plain recycled PE and PP, as well as in rubber systems, expanding their applicability to a wide range of thermoplastic and elastomeric systems. RP 53 also targets difficult odour

compounds including mercaptans, amines, and phosphites, and features VOC absorption properties that meet tough environmental regulations. The company said: “RP 17 and RP 53 tackle odour issues intensified by high processing temperatures in applications such as underhood components and interior trim. Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified operations, customers are assured of product consistency and compliance with international quality standards. Critically, these additives also support sustainability initiatives by enabling the use of 100% recycled content compounds without compromising the end-prod- uct’s sensory or physical quality.” Typical plastic compound dosages are between 0.5% and 3%, and rubber compound dosages range from 2% to 5%, enabling precise odour control tailored to specific processing conditions and material needs. Struktol said both RP 17 and RP 53 have demonstrated effectiveness even at low loading level, as low as 0.25% in some applications. RP 17 functions as a process lubricant and mould release agent, improving processability, reducing


plate-out, easing part release, and minimiz-


ing equipment cleaning needs. Both additives also enhance the dispersion of fillers and recycled content, reduce overall mixing and processing times, and contribute to improved surface finish and physical properties for appealing, high-perfor- mance final products.
