TECHNOLOGY | RECYCLING LINES

quality and an optimal cost structure.” The K2025 show in October is showcasing new

recycling line technologies from various exhibitors, including recycling machine manufacturer Erema. At its pre-K press event in Ansfelden near Linz in Austria, the company launched its campaign titled Edvanced Recycling – Erema Prime Solutions for Advanced Recycling. “The technologies used in plastics recycling have evolved very fast,” said Manfred Hackl, CEO of the Erema Group. “Over the past few years, we have repeatedly set milestones and have been a driver of innovation. At this year’s K, we will again be presenting multiple new solutions designed to keep even more plastics in circulation.” Having built its business on single-screw technology, Erema is venturing into twin-screw territory at K2025. It is launching TwinPro in which the company’s established Preconditioning Unit (PCU) is coupled directly to a twin-screw extruder. Another new system at K2025 is Agglomera which prepares feedstock materials for chemical recy- cling. Erema is also launching a more compact Intarema TVEplus 2021 line and, together with Lindner Washtech, is presenting the optimum match of washing system and extruder that achieves a balanced overall process. “For a more circular economy in the plastics

industry, recycling has to be consistently integrated along the entire value chain,” said Gerold Breuer,

Head of Marketing at Erema Group. “Edvanced Recycling shows how we are working together with our customers to sustainably increase the propor- tion of recycled plastics used in new products.”

Evolving systems Pure Loop, part of the Erema Group family of companies, plans to unveil a significant upgrade to its flagship ISEC Evo recycling system for produc- tion waste at K2025. “While we cannot reveal full details yet, this new technology takes us closer to a self-optimising recycling machine,” said Manfred Dobersberger, Managing Director of Pure Loop. “It minimises the need for manual intervention, saving time, labour, and thus costs, while ensuring a highly stable process that delivers even higher recyclate quality. This innovative solution will perform tasks that would otherwise require an operator with a decade of hands-on experience.” In recent years, the ISEC Evo recycling system has

proven itself a true all-rounder, according to Pure Loop. The integrated shredder-extruder combina- tion gently converts production scrap into recycled plastic pellets, and it is equally adept at handling heavy or light materials, even in high volume or high tensile strength. “Over the years, Pure Loop has developed unique know-how in specific applica- tions, providing expertise that no other recycling machinery manufacturer can match,” said Dobers- berger. “Our ISEC Evo has demonstrated excep- tional performance in challenging applications, such as recycling glass fibre-reinforced plastics or PET fibres, and offers outstanding flexibility. At K2025, we will unveil an evolution of our recycling machine with a touch of artificial intelligence.” Energy conservation is a hot topic in recycling, especially in Europe where costs are typically higher. In a recent interview with the VDMA, which represents 3,600 European companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector, Peter von Hoffmann, General Manager Compounding Machines Business Unit at Coperion, said: “Effi- ciency is the central goal at Coperion. All our technologies for compounding and recycling
