ST-G-PP30LO, for glass-fibre reinforced polyolefin compounds is a “super-clean” formulation that has significantly lower residual monomer and odour compared to standard PP-g-MAH products, according to the company. This advantage is beneficial for parts for food-contact adjacent applications or other applications where odour specifications are enforced, said McCleskey. The additive performs at the same dosage as standard PP-MAH grades.
Low VOCs ST-4210, a low-emission compatibiliser for glass- filled ABS, PC/ABS blends, and multi-component ABS alloys, is an alternative that solves the problem of odour issues associated with conventional reactive compatibilisers. CAI reports strong adoption from compounders supplying the electric-vehicle interior and consumer electronics sectors. Also from CAI, the ST-AN3220 low-emission
compatibiliser for PA/ABS blends has low VOCs and is effective at low loadings, which keeps cost-in-use competitive for applications such as under-hood automotive and structural compo-
nents, the company said. “Polyamide and ABS are inherently tough to compatibilise for optimal mechanicals, and then you layer on the stringent low-VOC and interior air quality standards, espe- cially for automotive applications. It’s a dual challenge where conventional solutions often fall short on one front or the other. ST-AN3220 tackles both simultaneously, allowing compounders to meet performance specs without compromising on emissions,” said McCleskey.
