Alpla adopts new recycling brand as it expands capacity

Global rigid packaging group Alpla is consolidating all of its plastics recycling activities under the new brand AlplaRecycling. It says it aims to be processing at least 25% PCR material by 2025, up from a rate of 20% currently. The branding initiative

comes after a period of investment and growth in recycling in recent years. Alpla now operates 13 mechanical recycling plants, including four joint ventures with regional partners, and has most recently invested in South Africa, Romania, Thailand and an expansion in Poland. With these additions, the group’s annual capacity amounts to 266,000 tonnes of rPET and 84,000 tonnes of rHDPE. “The new brand is a clear commitment to recycling and to our expansion plans in growth markets,’ said Dietmar Marin, Managing Director of the Recycling division at Alpla. The company is planning in the coming years to intensify its activities in areas including southern Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. In July, Alpla announced it is investing around €8m in a third extrusion line at its recycling plant in Radom- sko, Poland, which will increase production capacity of food-grade rPET to 54,000 tpa, making it the largest plant of its kind in Europe.

tpa facility starts in summer 2023 and is expected to be completed in autumn 2024. A new website (link below) has information about recycling at Alpla and the products available. www.alplarecycling.com
