granulator overloads on the basis of motor current and torque values, it counteracts them so that rotor blockages can virtually be avoided.
Getting hot Technotrans has launched a new oil temperature control unit. Its Teco CT 130 Base 60 is compact and has high power density – offering temperatures up to 130°C and a heating capacity of 6 kW. Customised versions go up to 400°C and have a heating capacity of 750 kW. “By adding to our product series, we now offer

triggered over a period of hours. The new feature allows the system to reduce to a standby tempera- ture based on machine downtime. This gives the user an additional level of control and provides energy-saving and material overdry protection automatically. Finally, it has self-adapting ‘smart’ recipes: the DC-B control offers 20 standard recipes and can store up to 3,000 production recipes overall. These take into account the basic dry parameters of temperature and dew point – and also include the loading criteria and alarm setpoints.
Smart control
Hellweg Maschinenbau presented details of the Smart Control system for its entire granulator range at K2022.
It has added a hardware module to its Smart
Control system that can store and analyse its power consumption over the long term (such as a financial year). This provides valuable data for optimising energy use. The software itself can now control granulator speed in increments of one, allowing the user to tailor machine parameters exactly to requirements. The Secure+ package for the control system adds safety features. As soon as it detects imminent
an extensive portfolio of oil temperature control units with a temperature range of 130-350°C and a heating capacity of 4-54 kW,” said Ralf Radke, head of the temperature control sector of Technotrans. The unit has a recirculation rate of up to 60 litres/
minute. Thanks to its integrated ‘longlife’ stainless steel heating cartridge, heat is transferred in a loss-free manner. In addition, multi-voltage variants from 400 to 460 V – as well as dual-frequency versions for use in 50 Hz and 60 Hz networks – are also available. A large heat exchanger surface provides a cooling capacity of up to 30 kW. The new unit has a microcontroller and a
membrane keypad with a seven-segment display. A hinged control cabinet front provides optimum access to the electrical components. In addition, an interface port on the front of the unit is adaptable, such as by integrating analogue, serial or Ethernet- based interfaces.
