On a roll: latest in slitters & winders
Recent developments in slitters and winders include an automated model that needs minimal operator input, and a model for cast jumbo rolls up to 1500mm in diameter
Film rewinders – often combined with slitters – en- sure that extruded film is prepared correctly before being shipped to a wide variety of end customers. Bimec of Italy has recently won three supply
contracts with several film extrusion companies. Lidersan Saglik, based in Turkey, recently
ordered two more STM 80 duplex slitters in the compact C+ configuration, featuring a semi-inte- grated unwind stand. The company makes film for the hygiene and personal care sector. The two machines were installed in September
2025. They are designed for slitting with razor blades and mechanical circular knives, ensuring versatility when processing a wide range of materials used in flexible packaging. Both have a splicing table featuring a short web-path under the running board, which is properly isolated from the floor. This meets a key requirement in the hygiene sector: preventing material contamination from dust particles – while ensuring access to the splicing table and slitting system for the operator. The main operating features include: a web

width of 1650mm; maximum finished roll diameter of 800mm; and operating speeds up to 800 m/min. These enable Lidersan to combine high productiv- ity with quality control. At the same time, Huhtamaki Flexible Packaging has installed two duplex turret slitter rewinder TCA 64C+ models at its plant in Durban, South Africa. The two models have helped the plant to raise productivity of food packging. The TCA 64C+ has a compact design which –
thanks to the semi-integrated unwind stand – en- sures easy access to the slitting area and eliminates the risk of material contamination. The machine is designed for various slitting solutions, using either razor blades or circular knives. The models incorporate automatic positioning system of the knife holders and multi-groove female knives – which are combined with an automatic single laser beam for core positioning. In addition, at last year’s K2025, the Bimec showed a TF duplex slitter rewinder and a TCA 60 C+ duplex turret slitter rewinder. It also exhibited
