Sumitomo invests in PP compounds
Sumitomo Chemical has an- nounced two investments in its global Sumika Polymer Compounds business. Last month, the
company completed an upgrade of its 5,000 tonnes/ year Sumika Polymer Compounds PP compound- ing unit at Chennai in India. This month, it estab- lished a new Sumika Polymer Compounds sales operation at Guadalajar in Mexico, previously serviced from the US. ❙

New leaders at Aurora
Aurora Plastics, a US-based producer of customised rigid PVC compounds, has an- nounced the appointment of Darrell Hughes as CEO, in place of Jim Domo, and Matt McDonald as CFO, replacing Tony Lamorte. The moves follow the acquisition of the company by Chicago-based private equity firm Wind Point Partners last month, which had already led to Mike Fitzpatrick becoming chairman of Aurora’s holding company. Fitzpatrick had been chairman and CEO of Citadel Plastics (a former Aurora subsidiary) under Wind Point’s ownership, which ended in

2015, and has been an executive advisor partner at Wind Point since 2005. Hughes has previously held senior positions within the RTV, elastomers and speciality
film and sheet businesses at GE Plastics before becoming Vice President and General Manager of Avery Dennison North American’s pressure- sensitive materials business. McDonald has been CFO of several private equity-owned businesses, including Citadel Plastics. He was most recently VP and CFO at Qualitor. Domo will remain as a special adviser to the end of the year; Lamorte will retire at that point. Founded in 1997, Aurora
