The fact that we have succeeded in establishing a future strategy during COVID times, says a lot about the resilience of our people and the strong connection with the maritime sector. Throughout the pandemic, we helped our customers and came up with new ideas. We started ground-breaking JIPs and developed the new Seven Oceans Simulator centre.
The maritime sector was also not deterred. In the Netherlands, the ‘Maritime Masterplan for a zero-emission maritime sector’ was initiated and within the EU the ‘Co-Programmed Partnership on Zero-Emission Waterborne Transport’ started. The development of sustainable energy at sea continued at full speed, with new concepts for the installation of increasingly larger wind turbines, floating wind turbines and floating solar panels.
This resilience and connection with an innovative maritime sector form the basis for our new strategy and many of our clients contributed to this vision. Together we have decided to focus on nine perspectives, which will ultimately lead us to ‘better ships’ and ‘blue oceans’: 1. Together with the industry we develop solutions for zero-emission ships and operations
2. Internationally, we are aiming for zero maritime accidents 3. We accelerate sustainability and climate adaptation at sea 4. We focus our integrated solutions on the operation 5. We want to be a global leader in maritime AI, with the sea as a digital lab
6. We simulate maritime operations within MARIN on one integrated digital platform
7. We accelerate customer innovations with our facilities as innovation labs
8. We actively share our knowledge 9. We work sustainably, flexibly, safely and above all together
The special thing about perspectives beyond the horizon is that they only become reality when you sail towards them. Therefore, this strategy is a voyage of discovery. This takes courage and it requires cooperation. This strategy is therefore an invitation to ‘Get on board!’
Dear Reader,
In this special edition of Report, we outline our knowledge and expertise in nine maritime markets. To support our clients in these markets now and in the future, we recently completed the development of our Strategy Plan ‘Beyond the horizon’. In line with our motto ‘Better Ship, Blue Oceans’, we explored new horizons and offer nine new perspectives for our nine markets.
