Bas Buchner b.buchner@marin.nl 12 report

MARIN has recently started a special Renewable ENergy Team (RENT) aiming to assist clients interested in the offshore renewable energy field. MARIN’s expertise and facilities can be used to explore the latest advances, including tidal, waves and the wind energy sectors. The formation of the new team is based on the conviction that shipbuilding and offshore knowledge

can be used and is needed to facilitate this new technology in harsh offshore environ- ments. Ship and platform motions in waves relate to wave energy devices, as thrusters and propellers do to tidal and wind turbines.
