news Joint Industry Project LifeLine kicks off
The LifeLine JIP seeks to develop a dry mooring line failure alarm system for offshore production based on position measurements only, and which takes the effect of environmental conditions into account. This will provide the oper- ator with real-time status information on the mooring line integrity.
The project scope (divided into two phases) comprises a screening study, methodology and software development and software validation by in-service measurements on- board of two floating production systems.
Monitoring equipment will be used based on reliable and proven technology without subsea sensors. The system can then be applied to both new-built and existing units.
The project kicked-off in April during the FPSO JIP Week in Oslo, Norway and will run for three years. Oil companies, FPSO opera- tors, suppliers and classification societies are all invited to join.
