Welfare for bird and farmer
Mid-September the organisers of the animal husbandry exhi- bition Space 2021, in the French city of Rennes, were able to host the first international agricultural fair since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. A welcome experience for many visitors from home and abroad, albeit under strict regulations. A ‘pass sanitaire’ and face masks were mandatory. The central theme at the show was animal welfare and farmer well-being. The latter helped by the fact that farmers were finally able to actually meet each other and, of course, some labour-saving innovations too, such as the automatic lifting table for duck vaccination by Labadie Developpement and the 3-star award winning semen collection device Aspicomfort by IMV Technol- ogies. Bird welfare was covered by plenty of feed and housing innovations, plus a retrofit window system for more daylight in poultry houses, presented by Sam Agri.
