companies that are aligned with its mis- sion and sense of urgency. “It’s just a question picking the right partners and the right team,” Prakash said. “I always insist on that key to innovation or innovative success is having the right team. Of course, you need to find stake- holders at the leadership level. We are very passionate about not only electrification but benefiting children. How can we ben- efit children safely [while] future proofing and how can we give them maximum advantage?” Garg agreed, noting that creating an ecosystem was very important from the beginning. “We spent a lot of time testing differ-
ent chargers, different classes, different protocols, [determining] how they work, and how they don’t work in the interme- diary system,” he explained, adding that the Zum ecosystem includes everyone from the manufacturers to the utilities to the charging management system to the virtual power plant managing system.
Technology Driven Company Adam Kahn, the chief business development officer for
technology company Netradyne, commented on his company’s partnership with Zum Services. He noted Zum is focused on being a provider of student transportation and utilizes Netra- dyne’s AI-technology camera systems. Kahn said the technology provides an additional level of added visibility and protection to tell the story of what really happened. “The ripple effect is that the parents feel better about putting their students on a bus that has safety, protective qualities to it,” Kahn said, adding that now bus drivers can learn from their driving performances. Zum has been a customer of Netradyne since July 2021 and
is expanding the Driveri camera into Oakland with a focus on driver compliance and insights as to what actually happened on the school bus. “It really studies the roadway outside the bus and looks for the school buses relationship to different objects such as stop signs, traffic signals, the distance between that bus and the ve- hicle in front of it,” he said, adding that it also is able to detect pedestrians.
