It was designed to remotely perform software updates for model year 2017 and newer engines. “At Zonar, we are very proud of our long and pro-
ductive partnership with Cummins, including co-developing initial over-the-air engine calibration technology,” said Mike Byington, Zonar’s GM of OEM and indirect sales. “It’s exciting to see their next step toward integrating directly into OEM platforms making it even easier for our shared school transportation customers to transform maintenance and operations, all of which di- rectly impacts student safety transportation efficiencies.” Daimler has also foregone the aftermarket route with
its Detroit Connect Virtual Technician OTA and remote diagnostics solutions. Zonar developed Virtual Techni- cian for Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) in 2010 but the solution remains an OEM-direct offering. A Daimler spokesman confirmed that the Zonar VT4 con- tinues to be line fit in some Daimler models, including Thomas Built Buses. The VT4 along with the Daimler CTP are the only devices that can perform software up- dates, to identify and analyze engine faults and provide fault resolution before a breakdown occurs.
