Heartbreak A firery school bus crash in western Illinois last month killed the bus driver and three students, a 5 year old and two 3 year olds, as well as the driver of a tractor-trailer. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) indicated it is assisting in the safety investigation. Read more at

Meanwhile, the 55-year-old assistant director of transportation and school bus driver at Hawkins County School District in Tennessee, was killed in a crash involving a wrong-way, teen driver. The district said in a statement that Aleita Gladson was a long-time and valued member of the district’s transportation department. Read more at

Class-Action Lawsuit Targets Late, Missing D.C. School Buses Some District of Columbia parents of students with disabilities filed a lawsuit listing specific instances where safe and reliable transportation to and from school was not provided. The lawsuit alleges that the district is failing to provide adequate transportation services thus violating the Individuals with Disability Act and American Disabilities Act. Learn more at
