WE REALLY DO MEAN

FULL SERVICE

With radiators, DPFs, EGRs and more than 30,000 exhaust parts, it’s no wonder Auto-jet is the choice of school bus systems coast to coast.

as students scan on and off. Our parents can have an app, too, so they know where their children are. If I have to drive, I can go out to the bus, put my code in, and download what route I’m doing. Back when I started driving, that district didn’t even have paper route sheets. I was told where the first student lived and that that kid would give me directions. That was fun, when the first three kids didn’t ride and I was out there getting later and later,” Bricks recalled with a laugh. He agreed that getting his more senior drivers on board with the technology was a bit challenging, but once they got used to the tablets, they concluded that it is a much better system. To be fully staffed, Sodus Central needs about 10 more drivers to hit the 25 total needed, and his two mechanics drive every day. “It’s a very shallow pool of applicants, so there aren’t a lot of oppor-

tunities for me to show people how much easier driving a route is with technology helping them. I was telling our superintendent how bad the lack of drivers is, and he decided to help out,” Bricks said. “Since he’s been training, he really understands how much there is to even simply pulling up to a stop and crossing kids. There is so much training now, that if districts aren’t offering paid training, how many people want to train and wait that long for a check?” In these unprecedented and unpredictable times, it seems that pro- viding our youngsters with reliable transportation through routing, tracking, and parent apps would provide parents with at least one thing they can count on: The good old reliable school bus. ●
