New York 4-Year-Old Dragged by School Bus

Another reason the mechanical doors were better to prevent drivers who don’t bring their ‘A’ game each and every second they’re behind the wheel of a school bus. People fail to realize the consequences of making a simple error are much higher when you have the lives of children under your care. This is a job where one cannot afford to become complacent. -Facebook/

You are trained to check your door, do your five mirror counts (making sure everyone is seated) before you ever turn on your left signal to prepare to pull out. This should never happen if you’re doing your job. -Facebook/Sherry Okamoto
You have to look and make sure they have cleared the bus. I always wait till they have moved at least 20 feet away. -Facebook/Sharon Burrier
That’s another reason I hate switched door mechanisms. If you close a kid or backpack in the door, you’ll feel it. We actually drilled that during training when we only had manual doors. -Facebook/Gram-pa Shawley

I really don’t get this. When I’m unloading kids, I watch until they are a safe distance away from the bus before I take off. -Facebook/Desiree Spence
