What will your legacy be? When you leave a gift to the National Museum of the American Indian in your will, trust,
or by beneficiary designation, you are creating a lasting and impactful legacy. Your gift will advance the talented scholars, curators, and educators whose work inspires all of us, corrects myths and stereotypes, and helps bring the full Native story to the world.
In 2002, astronaut John Herrington (Chickasaw) became the first member of a Native American tribe to orbit the earth. He carried along this ceramic pot made by Hopi artist Al Qöyawayma, who is also a mechanical engineer. Herrington and the ceramic traveled to the International Space Station aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 2002.
