Space research and exploration have given us many technologies such as satellites which carry out useful functions such as transmitting information rapidly over long distances. The International Space Station is used to research the effects of space travel on the human body, to collect information about Earth and to test technologies for further space travel. In 2014 the Rosetta mission became the first spacecraft to orbit a comet and collect information from the surface of a comet. Space travel has provided information about our planet, and further exploration may help scientists to find out more about the origins of the universe. Space travel is very complex and hazardous. Scientists are working to develop new technologies for further space exploration.
