“The launch comes at a time when e-commerce continues to reshape global trade.”
enzies Aviation, the world’s leading service partner to airports and airlines, this month unveiled MILE (Menzies Integrated Logistics for E-Commerce), a transformative logistics solution designed to redefine how e-commerce cargo moves through the global airfreight network.
The initiative marks a major step forward in Menzies’ digital and operational evolution, combining the company’s extensive ground handling expertise with cutting-edge logistics technology to deliver faster, smarter, and more connected cargo operations. Developed in partnership with Air Menzies International (AMI), MILE unites the global
reach of Menzies’ airport cargo handling
infrastructure with AMI’s proven forwarding and logistics capabilities. The result is a fully integrated, end-to-end e-commerce service connecting airlines, freight forwarders, and end customers through a seamless network designed specifically for the demands of modern online retail. The launch comes at a time when e-commerce continues to
reshape global trade. Over the past decade, the surge in online shopping has fundamentally altered supply chain dynamics, with consumers expecting faster delivery times,
real-time visibility,
and consistent reliability. Traditional cargo models, originally built for bulk freight, have often struggled to keep pace with the high- volume, time-sensitive nature of e-commerce shipments. Menzies Aviation saw in this a clear opportunity to innovate - to build a logistics model purpose-built for the speed and transparency the digital economy demands.
A new cargo era MILE delivers a scalable and agile framework designed to manage the exponential growth of e-commerce air cargo. The solution integrates every step of the logistics chain - from first-mile collection and airside handling to customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile delivery coordination - into one cohesive platform. Central to MILE’s design is its ability to combine priority handling,
accelerated customs processing, and digital tracking across every stage of shipment. This allows e-commerce packages to flow through the system with minimal delay and maximum visibility. Each shipment is monitored in real time, supported by secure air capacity allocations and flexible operational models that allow MILE to adapt swiftly during high-demand periods such as peak shopping seasons. The model is underpinned by the combined strength of Menzies’
extensive international infrastructure - spanning more than 250 locations across six continents - and AMI’s deep expertise in freight forwarding and consolidation. Together, they create an integrated solution that enhances both efficiency and performance throughout the e-commerce supply chain.
Digital innovation At the heart of the MILE platform lies Menzies’ MACH (Menzies Aviation Cargo Handling) system - a next-generation cargo management solution that leverages automation and data-driven decision-making to orchestrate real-time shipment flows. MACH enables operational teams to track and direct cargo from aircraft arrival
through to landside delivery using barcode foundation ensures each parcel scanning,
handheld devices and digital codes that prioritise e-commerce parcels through every touchpoint. This technology
is handled
with precision, speed, and transparency, enabling Menzies and its partners to maintain complete control and visibility from origin to destination. By replacing manual processes with intelligent

automation, MILE not only accelerates throughput but also reduces handling errors and improves security across the cargo journey. The integration of MACH also enhances customer experience.
Shippers, airlines, and forwarders can access unified dashboards showing shipment milestones, customs status, and predictive delivery estimates. This level of transparency supports better planning and customer service - key differentiators in a competitive e-commerce logistics market.
From pilot to global expansion The MILE concept has already been tested through successful proof-of-concept pilots in Sydney, Australia, in collaboration with major e-commerce retailers and freight partners. These trials demonstrated measurable improvements in speed, visibility, and overall efficiency, validating the model’s potential to streamline operations at scale. Following the Sydney pilot, Menzies plans a phased global rollout
of MILE beginning in late 2025, focusing on key international hubs where e-commerce demand is strongest. Strategic partnerships with airlines and freight forwarders will be instrumental in supporting
this expansion, ensuring that MILE’s integrated
approach is consistently applied across different markets and regulatory environments. The initiative also aligns with Menzies’ broader cargo growth
strategy, which emphasizes technology-led transformation and customer-focused innovation. By offering a differentiated logistics service that directly addresses the needs of
sector, Menzies aims to unlock new commercial opportunities across its global network while reinforcing its position as a trusted partner to the world’s leading airlines and logistics providers.
Leadership perspective Commenting on the launch, Beau Paine, Executive Vice President Cargo at Menzies Aviation, said: “MILE represents the next step in our digital and operational evolution. By integrating Menzies’ handling excellence with AMI’s forwarding capabilities, we are creating a powerful, end-to-end solution for e-commerce that will deliver real speed, visibility and scalability for our customers.” He added: “The launch of MILE reinforces Menzies’ commitment
to innovation and its ambition to lead the transformation of global air cargo logistics through smarter, technology-enabled solutions.” Paine emphasised that MILE is not merely a product but a strategic
platform — one that positions Menzies at the forefront of the digital logistics revolution. As the boundaries between traditional freight, express and e-commerce continue to blur, integrated solutions like MILE will become essential for airlines and forwarders seeking to maintain competitiveness in a fast-evolving market.
A strategic vision for the future For Menzies
Aviation, MILE embodies more than operational
innovation - it represents a vision for the future of air cargo. By connecting physical infrastructure with digital intelligence, the company aims to bridge the long-standing gap between airside operations and the demands of e-commerce logistics. As global trade continues to digitalize and consumers expect fulfilment,
ever-faster solutions that combine automation,
transparency, and network scale will define the next generation of logistics providers. With MILE, Menzies Aviation has positioned itself at the forefront of that transformation - ready to deliver a faster, smarter and more connected future for e-commerce air cargo worldwide..
