Vitaly Smilianets is the founder and CEO of Awery Aviation Software, a company focused on building digital ecosystems for the air cargo industry. A self-proclaimed Lego fan and tech enthusiast, his early love for robotics evolved into a passion for solving complex problems through software. Today, he’s helping transform aviation logistics — one algorithm at a time.


What was your dream job as a child? I wanted to build robots.


What’s the most unusual thing you’ve heard of being shipped? Chickens. Moving chickens is fun!


What’s the best business lesson you’ve learned? Trust is everything. You need to be trustworthy and honest.


Which three items would you take to a deserted island? A laptop, water, and food.


What’s the most exciting place you’ve visited for work? Thailand, Australia, and Japan — but I especially love Bangkok.


If you could introduce one new regulation in air cargo, what would it be? That airing is carrying. (Let’s drive it forward.) Describe your job in three words. Air cargo ecosystem.


What’s the best airport in the world, and why? Changi. It’s sustainable, fancy, and beautiful.


What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Be yourself.


What’s something we don’t know about you from your CV? I’m a big Lego fan — and I have a lot of small hobbies.


If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Flying.


What’s your proudest moment — and your biggest regret? Winning the Youngest Rational Leader Award. As for regrets — it’s always about time. You look back and think, “That could’ve been done faster.”

What advice would you give someone considering a career in air cargo? Be consistent. It’s not easy, but once you’re in, it’s hard to get out.
