Cold Hard Dash Tops Most Recent Leading Sire List by Percentage of Winners
TORONTO, January 10 – Ontario stallion Cold Hard Dash gave Belinda Taggart one last holiday gift as the calendar flipped to 2023, by topping the American Quarter Horse Association’s most recent Leading Sire by Percentage of Winners list. The December edition of the American
Quarter Horse Racing Journal provided up- dated sire lists as of October 28, 2022, and Cold Hard Dash led the way with six racing age foals and six winners. “I was flipping through and thought wow
when I came across that list,” said Taggart. “That was then followed up by the major owners in the U.S. calling me and saying, ‘Hey guess what? Your stallion is number one.’” Cold Hard Dash is by hall of fame sire

some mares,” said Taggart. “I know from my other stallion that the best thing to do is to breed him to the best mares possible to get him started.” One of his leading offspring in 2022 was
First Cold Wave, who backed up a stellar freshman campaign with a sophomore season where he earned over $44,000. He posted a record of 2-3-1 from eight starts and won the Ontario Bred Derby at Ajax Downs. Taggart has already fielded calls from
breeders looking to send their mares to Cold Hard Dash in 2023, and was hosting prospec- tive breeders for visits this past weekend. “It’s starting to look up, and hopefully

2023 QROOI Stallion Auction The QROOI Board of Directors are
happy to launch the 2023 Stallion Service Auction program! The auction will close Fri- day March 3rd, 2023! Please contact Monique McNamara at

fice@gmail.com in order to place a bid or reg- ister your stallion. The QROOI Board of Directors are
happy to announce that the Stallion Auction proceeds/benefits will include a 2026 Stallion Auction Futurity Stakes Race. The First run- ning of the Stallion Auction race will run in 2023 with $30,000 in added money in addi- tion to the funds raised through the auction. All offspring out of stallions that donated a breeding through this program will be eligi-
ble. Proceeds from the auction will be divided as follows, 30% to the Stallion Owner whose foal wins the race. 30% to the Owner who won the race if that owner purchased a breed- ing to the sire of the winner and 40% will go to fund the purse. For everyone who buys one of these
breeding’s you get free nomination and sus- taining payments into this Stake Race for the horse that was produced as part of this pro- gram. Stallion services have been donated to
the QROOI Stallion Service Auction for the current breeding year, it is expected that win- ning bidders will contact the stallion owners to complete breeding contracts outlining any and all further conditions including but not limited to live foal guarantees and return priv- ileges.
