COVER STORY
way in recent years, but this means little for tradespeople who are stuck wearing their regular specs because swapping them for safety eyewear would impair their vision. With prescription safety glasses, there’s no need to compromise.”
Specsavers’ newly enhanced safety eyewear collection has been created with these workers in mind. The range has been created in partnership with Stryder Eyewear, an industry leader with more than 50 years’ experience. The collection meets the requirements set out in the new standard, providing superior protection and correcting their vision. State-of-the-art injection moulding methods have been used to create adjustable temple tips with over-moulded soft parts of enhanced comfort.
Sustainability was another priority in the design and manufacturing process, aligning with Specsavers’ commitment to reducing environmental impact but also the larger movement of the construction and manufacturing industries towards a greener way of working. The glasses are made with sustainable materials such as G850 Rnew and Pebax Rnew 40R53, reducing their impact without compromising on performance or protection.
A BETTER EVERYDAY
For tradespeople who wear safety eyewear for long periods every day, the difference that prescription glasses make can’t be understated, so being able to choose the right pair is paramount. Given the broad range of jobs done by tradespeople, being able to choose the right safety eyewear for their role is crucial. The new safety eyewear collection is available in three
tiers – classic, specialist and premium – priced at £90, £100, and £130, respectively.
Each tier has been carefully designed to cater to varying workplace needs, blending robust safety features with contemporary, stylish designs. They’re available in a range of colours, including black, grey, crystal, burgundy, green and silver. Customers can explore the collection in Specsavers stores nationwide, with the classic tier included in Specsavers’ popular 2-for-1 offer.
“We created the new collection to provide tradespeople with a choice of robust, stylish and comfortable safety specs that allow them to ditch their regular glasses when they’re doing a job that needs eye protection. With Stryder Eyewear we’re happy to be working with the best in the business, and customers know that they’ll get stellar service when they come into one of our stores up and down the country” added Dona Mclafferty.
The new standard for safety eyewear represents real progress, and will lead to safer work sites, but it’s time for the industry to acknowledge that there’s a portion of tradespeople who still aren’t getting the protection they need. Specsavers’ new range of prescription safety glasses provides these workers with an effective and important solution.
