BEYOND THE BARRIER

Debbie Philip of Skipper looks at how smarter safety barriers can go beyond simply marking a boundary, helping to improve visibility, accessibility and protection.

Health and safety is a very broad term. It covers a wealth of factors in any workplace; but whether you are working on a building site or a factory, in transport, education or healthcare, it should always be factored in from the start.

Preventing accidents is always preferable to dealing with their consequences – personal and financial – so it’s important to have clear systems in place from the planning phase of a project or facility.

Not only does this meet legal responsibilities by protecting employees and visitors, it means building good habits from the outset, ensuring all colleagues are clear on any risks as well as the directions around them, and creating a positive culture of clarity and safety.

Skipper is a manufacturer of safety management products that support these cultures of clarity and safety, thanks to our portfolio of safety barrier products.

We have been in operation since 2004, when we introduced the world’s first patented cone top barrier. Since then, our team has supplied over 30 innovative health and safety products to a range of industries, including civil engineering, transport, hospitality, construction and health. We distribute on a global scale, with clients including British Airways, NASA, Hilton, BAE Systems and Balfour Beatty.

The team at Skipper works closely with our clients to understand their health and safety needs and we recognise that every workplace and every site, building and safety spec is different.

It’s through these close working relationships that we are able to continually invest in our barrier products, introducing new and better ways to provide direction, signage, safety and security – tailored to each client thanks to the versatile nature of the products.

C8 BARRIER SYSTEM

Our latest launch is the perfect example of this. Created with versatility in mind, the new C8 barrier system provides superior levels of safety and stability across a range of surfaces and environments, thanks to its injection-moulded reflective panels and dual connectors that can articulate 360 degrees.
