Hello and welcome to the November/December issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.

As we approach the end of the year, many people will be reflecting on the past 12 months; one which started with the country in its third lockdown and ends with almost every Covid-19 restriction being tossed aside. This despite the fact that case numbers remain very high at around 45,000 new cases a day as immunity wanes in those that received their vaccinations much earlier in the year. The booster jabs are of course well under way, but whether this prevents the tidal wave of patients seeking treatment in hospital seen last Christmas, remains to be seen.

In this final issue for 2021, Compliance & Risk Assessment takes centre stage as various companies guide us through some of the most recent legislation. In her feature, Abigail Miller, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and Director of Abigail Miller Consulting, discusses how taking multi-faceted approach to safety management will help businesses keep up with various legislative changes, whilst Regulatory Lawyer Bill Dunkerley offers his advice on how to respond to enforcement action by a regulator.

Elsewhere, Draeger Safety UK dispels some common misconceptions surrounding gas safety in the workplace and offers advice on selecting an effective monitoring system, and Casella and 3M look at Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and suggest some practical guidance on keeping your employees safe.

On behalf of the whole Tomorrow’s Health and Safety team, we wish all our readers a well-deserved relaxing Christmas and a happy new year.

Enjoy the issue. the information EDITOR’S VOICE
