CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF ROSPA GOLD AWARDS

Actavo has secured three prestigious, internationally recognised awards in acknowledgement of its excellence in health and safety at the annual Health and Safety Awards organised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in the UK.

Actavo Industrial Solutions UK has been awarded the RoSPA Order of Distinction Award following 20 consecutive years of winning Gold Awards. Actavo’s industrial team provides scaffolding infrastructure and electricity pylon tower painting services to construction and energy operators across the UK, operating to rigorous safety standards.

Actavo Network & In-Home received two awards: the RoSPA President’s Award, which recognises the company’s achievement of winning the Gold Award for 13 consecutive years; and the RoSPA Fleet Safety Gold Medal, in recognition of eight consecutive years of Gold Awards. Actavo’s Irish Fleet comprises over 600 vehicles.

Colm Doherty, Executive Chair at Actavo, said: “Actavo is honoured to have received this continued recognition from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. RoSPA Awards are widely recognised as the foremost international accolades in the health and safety sector. Safety is our number-one company value, and reaching this 20-year milestone is an acknowledgement of our culture and our long-term track record of excellence in keeping our staff and the public safe.”

KING CHARLES BECOMES PATRON OF SAFETY CHARITY

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has announced that His Majesty King Charles III is the charity’s new patron following a review of more 1,000 royal patronages since the King ascended to the throne in 2022.

King Charles succeeds his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who served as RoSPA’s patron for over 70 years.

The King’s involvement with RoSPA, which is headquartered in Birmingham, will continue to enhance the organisation's mission in promoting safety and accident prevention, with new CEO Becky Hickman at its helm.

RoSPA is the only royal society in the field of health and safety and has a long royal lineage that goes back over a century, when the then Duke of York (the future George VI) became the President of the National "Safety First" Association (RoSPA’s former name) and then later became Patron in 1926.

The Royal Family has played a key presence in RoSPA’s mission, with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II being patron for over 70 years. In 2017, RoSPA was invited to hold a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to mark

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, over 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest- running Health & Safety industry awards. The annual awards are categorised by different levels of achievement: Merit, Bronze, Silver and Gold, as well as long-term awards that recognise companies for achieving Gold Awards for multiple consecutive years.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: "Workplace accidents don't just pose financial risks and operational disruptions; they significantly impact the quality of life for individuals. This is why acknowledging and rewarding excellent safety performance is vital.

“We congratulate Actavo for winning three prestigious RoSPA Awards and showing an unwavering commitment to keeping employees, clients and customers safe from accidental harm and injury.”

its centenary. The charity’s important work in the field of health and safety was formally celebrated in the company of thousands of RoSPA volunteers, award winners, members, sponsors, trainees, customers and parliamentarians.

Rebecca Hickman, CEO at RoSPA, said: “We feel honoured and privileged to receive confirmation that King Charles III will be our new patron, after taking the baton from his mother who was our patron for over 70 years.

"As our charity evolves, our primary focus remains on building a safer society. We're committed to this goal by bringing leaders together, setting standards, sharing best practices, and driving meaningful change - having the King as our patron underscores the importance of our mission."
