V12 FOOTWEAR WINS INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD
Wiltshire-based safety footwear manufacturer V12 Footwear was recently awarded with a prestigious Green Apple Award at the Environmental Best Practice 2022 presentation at The Houses of Parliament.
Receiving the accolade in the Engineering and Manufacturing: Carbon Reduction category, V12 was honoured with a silver award in recognition of its carbon neutral safety boot range, Lynx.
V12 Footwear competed against over 500 other nominations but emerged as a winner due to the company-wide sustainability steps it put in place to achieve carbon neutrality for the Lynx, and the fact that by developing the Lynx, which is as V12 call it, ‘From Cradle to Grave, a Boot That Leaves no Footprint’ they have become the first UK safety brand to develop a carbon neutral work boot.
V12’s Operations Coordinator, Chloe Oakley, who collected the award said: "It was a huge honour for V12 Footwear to achieve a Green Apple Award for the carbon reduction of the Lynx Safety Boot. The whole company have collaborated to produce this highly sustainable piece of safety footwear.”

Heather Beach, Founder of Women in Health & Safety, said: “Peoplesafe’s investment allows us to turn what was a side of desk project for a busy group of professionals into something with greater structure and weight. It has already allowed us to build a much stronger programme for the first half of 2023 with many more events – formal and informal – and we look forward to continuing to develop something which really serves the profession.”

further and work harder to ensure we care for our planet just as much as we care for our wearers' feet."
While Chloe and the rest of the V12 team were delighted at receiving this Green Apple award, they have big plans to make the Lynx range even cleaner and greener. These developments include making production processes even more efficient, using more recycled and non-leather components, as well as the fact that their new factory manufacturing the Lynx styles will use solar panels providing 20% of its energy.
This award and their large-scale environmental aims are further proof that V12 are a safety footwear manufacturer responsible for both maximum protection for the wearer — and minimal impact on the planet.
