Hello and welcome to the July/August issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.

As we return to some degree of normality, attention now diverts to ensuring businesses are COVID-secure. Earlier this month, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) suggested that the highest priority for organisations of all sizes should be to take the five practical steps outlined on the government website.

The HSE was keen to highlight that by law, employers have a duty to protect workers and others from harm and this includes taking reasonable steps to control the risk and protect people from coronavirus. They made it clear that any business could have a spot inspection which would include duty holders having to answer questions on how they are managing risks.

In our Technology in Health and Safety feature this month, we look at some of the new technologies that can support organisations in this endeavour. Heavasure delves into the world of remote monitoring, whilst Human Recognition Systems (HRS) explains why app-based solutions can help the construction sector to safely return to pre-lockdown levels of activity.

Elsewhere we explore Working at Height, Ear and Eye Protection and Respiratory Health. So, whether you’re enjoying these summer months at home, or heading to the continent, there’s plenty of worthwhile content to get stuck into.

Enjoy the read.
