BELFOR UK REGIONALISES CUSTOMER SERVICE OPERATIONS FOLLOWING MAJOR GROWTH

Disaster recovery firm BELFOR UK has announced a major expansion of its team and regionalised service offering, following a period of significant growth.

Whilst the firm retains its national footprint, delivering services across the country, there has been a strategic shift towards a more localised, seamless service offering.

The previously centralised customer service and admin function has now been rolled out to the existing regional hubs in Scotland, Wales, North England, and the Midlands. This will give customers an even more personalised and knowledgeable customer service experience.

A new Greater London site, based in Swanley, has also opened, encompassing office space, a warehouse and a specialist cleaning room, demonstrating the firm’s industry-setting standards in property restoration and disaster recovery services.

In total, 42 new colleagues have joined the team, and having gone through the firm’s first-class training programme, they are now all operational across the country.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PEST CONTROL AND FOOD HYGIENE

Pest control is imperative when dealing with food production, as part of the food hygiene regulations 2006 ensures adequate procedures to control pests must be in place.

The exclusion of pests must be achieved by proofing where pests can enter and installing insect screens where applicable. Pelsis produces insect screens for windows, traditional doors and bespoke screens for the food industry.

Restriction of food, water and breeding sites are simple steps that help to maintain a pest free environment. This is achieved through cleaning and maintenance of the building fabric.

Monitoring is required on a regular basis to prevent food borne illnesses, product contamination, product recalls, damage to reputation, and fines. Regular surveys by a competent person forms part of food producers/vendors due diligence and can be used as a defence if and offence has been committed.

Pelsis has developed digital artificial intelligent insect light traps (ILTs), allowing real time monitoring enabling business to make critical decisions swiftly protecting food and producer. ILTs not only catch insects, they also provide an insight into the insect population numbers

Hein Hemke, Managing Director at BELFOR UK, said: “Following a period of strong growth, we have invested heavily in our customer service experience, to ensure we are not just closer to our clients geographically, but also more attuned to their unique needs and circumstances.

"By placing our operational teams on the ground in the areas in which they operate, we can foster local expertise and relationships, and accelerate the disaster recovery process, with a personal touch.

“By bringing our operations and admin teams together in our regional hubs, we can better serve our local communities, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to excellent customer service."

and breeding sites that may have developed within a site.

Sourcing raw materials from reputable suppliers, quality control checks forming part of a HACCP system, good stock rotation (FIFO or first in first out) is also required to prevent pests being introduced into site or proliferating within stored raw materials.

Digital monitors for rodents are proving to be an integral tool in the food industry. Pest control officers (PCOs) can deploy them in food production sites to provide real time data and alert PCOs when pest ingress a occurs. The data also provides the locality, allowing corrective measures to be implemented. Traditionally monitors are checked periodically (every six weeks); within that time, the rodent will have possibly contaminated a large area of the premises, damaged stock, and building fabrication.
