EDITOR’S VOICE

Hello and welcome to the January/February issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.

As we step into 2025, we’re thrilled about what’s ahead for Tomorrow’s Health & Safety. We’ve got a fresh editorial calendar, new contributors bringing quality insights, and our ongoing dedication to delivering the best content for the H&S industry. We hope you’ll join us throughout the year and enjoy everything we have planned – it’s set to be an exciting one. We also have an updated look with our new designer Hao Nguyen taking over from Nigel Rice.

In this issue, we take a deep-dive into Working at Height. For this, we caught up with Gareth Mc Cague, HSE Manager for lifting equipment manufacturer and service provider, Konecranes Demag UK Limited. In an exclusive interview, Gareth answers our questions on what the statistics around Working at Height tell us, how legislation helps saves lives, and what drives

Konecranes’ philosophy on workplace safety and working at height. You can check out the full interview on page 16.

Elsewhere, Noise Monitoring is in the spotlight. It is estimated that 1.3 billion people suffer hearing loss due to noise exposure, while occupational noise exposure causes between 7% and 21% of hearing loss among workers. It’s why Professor Chris Barlow, Head of Research and Innovation at KP Acoustics Research Labs, argues that the risks of occupational noise exposure should merit greater attention.

There’s plenty in the following pages to get you through what can be a challenging month for many. We wish you all the best for the year ahead and hope you continue to enjoy what Tomorrow’s Health & Safety has to offer.

Enjoy the read.
