FEATURE SECOND PLACE BELFOR UK TRAINING FACILITY BY BELFOR UK


BELFOR UK launched its training facility in Luton to address a critical skills gap in the restoration industry. The shortage of qualified technicians has been a persistent challenge, but BELFOR’s training centre offers a unique solution by equipping a new generation of professionals with the hands-on experience and technical expertise needed for a successful career in disaster recovery.


The facility is designed to provide live, immersive training on traditional property construction, going beyond traditional classroom learning. Trainees gain practical experience in scenarios such as flood response, fire-damaged properties, and asbestos removal. With state-of-the-art features like a leak detection site and restoration bay, the centre allows individuals to learn and practice essential skills in a controlled environment, preparing them for real-life disaster recovery situations. BELFOR UK also offers portfolio training for its electricians and gas engineers, allowing them to maintain and gain further qualifications within the accrediting bodies such as Gas safe and NAPIT.


Since its inception, the centre has successfully trained technicians, all of whom have secured full- time positions with BELFOR and are now applying their skills in the field with ongoing mentorship and support.

With a strong focus on continuous learning, BELFOR’s training facility is also a hub for existing employees seeking to upskill and share knowledge. The innovative design of the training areas – developed in collaboration with Technical Manager Jay Scott – ensures that trainees are fully prepared to meet the challenges of disaster recovery, with real-world exposure to diverse recovery scenarios.

Appropriate bite-size modules are served up directly to the driver and their score is revised dynamically when the training is done. There are over 50 eLearning and video modules accessible within Continuum.


Furthermore, Continuum uniquely automates the tracking and recording of Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) hours, training and expiry dates, sending alerts when needed.
