Myth 1
Never use cleaning solutions when cleaning concrete floors.
Concrete can be exposed to the same soiling as any other floor. In fact, because it is often installed in more industrial settings with heavy foot traffic, soil loads may be even higher than on other types of hard surface floors. Vacuum or dust mop concrete floors regularly. To clean, use a pH-neutral cleaner and avoid using wet mops. A more efficient way to clean concrete floors is by using an auto-vac floor cleaning system or, in a very large area, a ride-on automatic scrubber.
FLOORCARE
Kaivac dons a suit of armour and sets out o the myths and legends that surround th
Floorcare has been referred to as both an art and a science. Some cleaning professionals just seem to have the knack for caring for floors with little training. Others do well, but only by sticking close to what they have learned, either from distributors, trainers, or by using new electronic tutoring devices attached to the equipment they are using.
Myth 2 Floor sealers are no longer needed.
This can depend upon the type of floor we are working with and if the floor has few pores, fine lines or cracks, or other imperfections. What we need to know is that sealers and floor finishes are not the same things. A sealer has a higher percentage of solids than a finish. This means that it more effectively fills pores and cracks and smooths out the inconsistencies on a hard surface floor. It also makes the floor finish adhere more effectively to the floor.
Myth 3
Too much floor finish makes the floor more slippery.
In most cases, the reasons a floor is slippery is because a slip-resistant floor finish has not been applied; inferior floor cleaning solutions have been used; the mop bucket containing the floor finish or the mop itself were not clean; or a mop has been used regularly to clean the floor. Mops can leave a thin layer of soil on the surface of the floor, which can make it slippery.
Myth 4 No wax floors need no wax.
Some types of laminate and sheet vinyl floors are marketed as ‘no wax’ floors. This means, in professional cleaning terms, it is not necessary to finish the floor. Eventually, the floor will likely need to be scrubbed, possibly even stripped. At that point, a finish should be applied. This will help protect the floor, keep it cleaner, and restore the shine.

Myth 5
Always use a weak cleaning solution when cleaning or scrubbing floors.
A cleaning solution should be diluted based on the manufacturer's recommendations. Often the label will list dilution ratios for different types of cleaning situations. Always follow the recommendations listed on the label by the manufacturer.
