A TOUCH OF OPULENCE
When an architect required luxury hardwood flooring for a high-end property development, CFS delivered.
A converted Grade II listed building, The Pearn House in Plymouth is a development of luxury apartments built for the over-55 market. The property underwent a full refurbishment as the original building was over 125 years old. Originally opened as residential convalescent nursing home, Pearn House was built for the people and served the community for 107 years.
Set in walled grounds, the development comprises 10 two- bedroom apartments over two storeys. Each apartment is specified to the highest standard to ensure that the original period features of the property sit sympathetically with the modern inclusions, such as high gloss kitchens and bathrooms, making it one of the most exciting redevelopments in Plymouth.
When it came to specifying the flooring, commercial flooring contractors Derwent Plymouth was given a specific brief from the architect; the properties had to feel spacious, exude luxury and look modern whilst also keeping in fitting with the period features. Having worked with CFS for 18 years, Derwent Plymouth knew that it wanted to install CFS products and selected 550m² of CFS’s Arden Classics Hardwood, part of the CFS Home range, throughout the hallways, living and kitchen areas of the development.
Arden Classic Hardwood Collection is available in 13 rustic designs and five plank styles. With luxury at the forefront of all interior design choices at The Pearn House, Derwent Plymouth specified the hardwood in Rustic Maxi Arctic White, creating an open and clean space within the properties.
Alongside the aesthetic benefits of choosing Arden Classics, hardwood flooring provided the level of luxury required for the high-end development. Designed with a three-layer construction, it is also incredibly durable by nature and will maintain its appearance for many years thanks to a smooth coloured UV oil coating. In terms of installation, a number of the products in the Arden Classics range - including the design selected for this development - work through an engineered plank clicking system which helped the team to lay the floor down quickly and easily.
The property also benefited from complementary accessories from CFS - end profiles in 15mm - which matched the finish of the floor perfectly. It was the finishing touches like this that elevated the interior design of the apartments.
